The 2014 edition of NXNSE proved to be a great event for Virginia’s harriers.  Runners returned home from Cary, North Carolina’s Wake Med course boasting individual titles, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Team All NXNSE places, and team trophies. 

 

 

In the Boys’ Championship Race, Lake Braddock placed athletes across the All NXNSE teams.  Their three runners represented Virginia on the podium. Senior Alex Corbett led the way racing to a 15 flat finish to place 5th..   He improved 8 seconds over his 6A State winning time from two weekends ago. Senior Kevin Monogue crossed the line 25 seconds later to claim 15th. Teammate Colin Schafer, a junior, grabbed the last honor on the 3rd Team and produced a 5 second PR finishing in 15:34.

 

Lake Braddock finished the highest team on the boys’ side.  They climbed the podium to receive the bronze trophy.  Merely 2 points separated the 2-3-4 team scores in what the meet announcer called, “the closest team competition ever.”  Despite...
