MileStates Time! Previews of All 6 State Meets

Unfortunately Nansemond River's graduation is this weekend and will cause some absences in the sprint races. Though there will be individuals missing, we won't be missing the speed as this classification is deep. With these changes in lineups the meet is more open for competitors, mainly E.C. Glass' girls team. On the boys team front I.C. Norcom still has a sizable advantage.

Nansemond River, even without some of their seniors, still has a ton of firepower in the long sprints and hurdles... not to mention an all-time great in Zakiya Rashid (pictured above) in both throws and in the hurdles. The combination of her and Brandee' Johnson may be enough to win the title outright.

Leading the way for E.C. Glass will be Libby Davidson who will look to bring 30 points home for the Hilltoppers and once again be the queen of distance. She is going to have tough competition with World Youth Championships competitor Weini Kelati at her side. These two should duel it out for the majority of their races and create quite the show.

Also creating quite the show will be Phoebus' Charles Graham who is now a top 10 all-time 110m hurdler in Virginia. If he continues on that trend then we could see something truly special from him in the hurdle races and likely the 4x100.

In the longer races for the guys Peter Seufer, the Hahn brothers, and Cox-Philyaw are set for a collision course that could create some huge performances.

Predictions

MVP: Brandee' Johnson

Dark Horse: Weini Kelati

Race To Watch: Boys 4x100.

Biggest Storyline: Girls team title, can anyone catch Nansemond River?
