#16: Boys 300m Dash Final @ VaTech Invite!
This race could go down as one of the most stacked, epic, and of course fast heats ever to be run in Virginia. When this race was run it featured the US #1 in the 55, US #1 in the 300, US #1 in the 500, US #1 in the high jump, and US #1 in the 55m Hurdles. Needless to say it was stacked. Headlining this group was the big three from Virginia that accumulated five national titles and twelve state titles this year. Those three athletes of course are Noah Lyles, Grant Holloway, and Josephus Lyles.
They were also joined in this heat by Rico Gomez of Maryland who was top three in the nation at 500, Maxwell Willis also from Maryland, and William Brooks of Halifax.
This race was blazing fast and after it was all said and done was the third fastest 300m race in history for an entire field. That means it was seriously one of the best races ever to be run in our country.
Winning the race and bragging honors was Noah Lyles who finished in 33.32 to break LaShawn Merritt's record of 33.51. Grant Holloway was second in 33.54 almost also breaking Merritt's mark. Noah's time ranks top 5 all-time while Holloway's ranked top 11 all-time in the country.
