This year has been one for the record books! With so many great races, events, and of course performances, we had to take our time compiling this list. Check out all the moments here and let us know what you think about it both in our poll (to be listed when #1 is released) and via #MileStatTop25
#12: Marsh: National Fresh. Record!!
If you want to list off the best triple jumping freshman ever in our country then your list has to begin and end with Titiana Marsh from Thomas Dale. The frosh hop skipped and jumped to a national record 51-2 on her final jump of the indoor season. The moment could not have been any better. She was overcome with tears after that jump and had read the mark, after measuring it twice of course!
For a lot of teams freshman are the wildcard, you don't know who you will get and how they will do. This was not the case at all for Thomas Dale and Marsh. Marsh has been a constant queen of the jumps since she started competing and actually had a nice little streak of being undefeated in the triple jump for four years. She entered the season with a middle school best jump of 39-5.75 but quickly improved upon that by mid-season. Her coaching staff kept her rested and trained throughout to add more strength and finally at the state meet we got to see her push it.
It was almost perfect how on her final jump of finals she finally decided to break the record that she had been so close to all season. She would go on to win the 6A state title in the triple jump both seasons and the long jump outdoors.
