#10: Western Branch Boys Dominate NBON!
No team dominated New Balance Nationals quite like the Bruins did of Western Branch. They reigned supreme in the 4x100 (41.11), 800m SMR (1:30.90), Swedish Relay (1:52.64 New Meet Record), and the shuttle hurdle relay (56.91) with a 4th place finish in the 4x200 (1:27.09). That totals four national titles and five all-american finishes in just five races. This was not only one of the best performances of the year at NBON but also the state of Virginia and potentially ever by a single team at a national meet.
You cannot overstate how much this team stepped up after falling just short in the state meet competition losing the team title by just a couple points. Knowing how close they were to greatness all year and them finally achieving it at the biggest stage makes this moment just that much better. It was so good intact it won Claude Toukene Virginia Boys Coach of the Year for numerous organizations.
Members of these relay teams included: Michaiah Harris, Breon Deloatch, Stephan Arjoon (senior), Jahkwan Blackley, Anthony Q Williams (senior), Josiah Scarlett (senior), Dwight James (senior), Tyson Robinson (senior). The ones without a senior next to their name will be returning next year creating some scary talented teams that will definitely be making the finals at the Penn Relays.
