Nothing is as tough as losing a team title by four points. Four points that equaled just four seconds on the state XC course. Blacksburg's boys suffered that loss last season but it looks like it only made them better competitors. 

Entering the season the Bruins of Blacksburg enter as the strong favorites to take home the 3A team title and end the streak of runner-up finishes. They have yet to win a 3A state title but did successfully win the final four AA state titles. 

This team is deep and strong upfront with Ben Fleming leading the helm both for the Bruins and the entire 3A classification. Ben enters the season ranked 10th in the entire state preseason and has the experience to put it all together this season. 

His toughest competition will come from Prosser, Hudson, Klekar, Thiessen, and Grider. 

Hudson and Thiessen seem to be more of milers than XC runners but as we saw with Matt Novak in 2014, with the right training that speed can be deadly.
