It is truly a once in a lifetime event this year. VA has two of the best distance runners in the entire nation and both are defending state 6A Champions... that's right! Both are coming off of winning state meet performances with Kate Murphy winning last year and Rachel McArthur winning the year before. Both have not lost on Great Meadow in at least a year.
That matchup will make this season and more specifically this race the best one to watch possibly ever.
Aside from those two superstars 6A will also have some of the best runners in the entire state running in this race as well. Oakton's Casey Kendall should be under 18:00 this year and sophomore Rachel Northcutt cannot be counted out at all. She was runner-up last year as a frosh and ran 17:57!
Devon Williams and her James Madison teammates will also make things exciting as they attempt to takedown defending champs Lake Braddock. It is going to come down to the fourth and fifth runners for this state team title.
