At the Monroe Parker Invitational on Tuesday afternoon, the individual race for first among the boys was a thriller between Chantilly's Chris Foley and Thomas Edison's Leoule Degfae with both runners timed at 15:27 on the 2.98 mile course. Both runners had competed in invitationals this past Saturday with Foley mixing it up among the top runners for the VA #2 ranked Jamestown squad at the Lee-Davis Invite, while Degfae was rolling on his 2.5K leg to attempt to bring his team back in the race at Brentsville. With Degfae being more middle distance geared as a 1:54 half miler, it was a surprise for the crowd at Burke Lake to see the 2 miler Foley reel in Degfae in the final loop to the finish and sprint past him for the win in the final strides. Annandale senior Scott Plunkett was the next individual finisher in 3rd for a solid clocking of 15:37.
