Ballard Takes State Record At Russell Blunt Invite in 100H!

Western Branch sophomore, now junior, Shadajah Ballard used her last race as a sophomore the best way she could and used it to set the state sophomore record. She did so by hurdling a blistering 13.51 in the 100H at the Russell Blunt Invitational (NC) this weekend.

That time ranks VA #5 all-time and just edges out fellow sophomore Kori Carter's (Nansemond River) 13.58 run a month ago. Ballard easily advanced to the finals with her 14.05 prelim time. She followed that race up only minutes later with a VA #8 all-time performance of 11.68 in the open 100m dash.

Finished second and third behind her were teammates Adriana Shockley (14.23) and Keishayla Warren (14.53). Now graduated teammate, Jada Terrell, won the 17-18 age group with her 13.81 performance.
