18 Things To Look For During The VA Outdoor Track Season #3

The secret is out, Oscar Smith has the best hurdle group in the entire nation. Not only did they win the indoor shuttle hurdle relay (29.38) but they are also all returning next year. The quartet of Kurt Powdar, Aaron Shirley, Shymeek Dixon, and Kevaughon Watson are all ready for next year but also the outdoor season.

This outdoor season there are three main storylines to watch with regards to this hurdle group. The first is to watch how they can compete as a team, they were the state runners-up last year, against the Western Branch powerhouse.

The second main storyline will be how the duo of Dixon and especially Kevaughon process during the season. Their hurdle form is decent but their upside is undeniable. They are training with some of the best hurdlers in the nation and that should spell some big advances this outdoor season.

The final and arguably most anticipated thing this season will be how Shirley and Powdar do. Powdar surprised a lot of people outside of Virginia with his 60mH times at nationals and has yet to show us his full strength. Aaron on the other hand is more of a 300/400 meter hurdler and could really have a huge outdoor season.

The writing is on the wall and we get to sit back and watch them run. Just be ready for some very fast times.
