Super sophomore and all-American, Michaela Rose just made a huge statement with her 2:53.17 win in the 1K at Norfolk Academy's weekday meet. That time is US #2 currently behind Katelyn Tuohy's 2:47. This time joins Theo Woods' US #2 mark on the boys' side.
Not only is this time a VA #1 and US #2, it is also VA #17 all-time and #3 all-time for athletes from the 757. It very well could be one of the fastest sophomore times ever as well for Virginia.
Though she will focus on the 400 and 800 at indoor nationals, this 1K shows a lot of us that she is gearing up to have a huge 800 this season with increased stamina. Her next race will be at the VA Showcase where she will face off with national champion Athing Mu in the 400 and 600m dashes.
