Dominion's Aougab PR'd At The Perfect Time

Class 4 may not be the deepest classification overall but in the distance events it is by far the fastest. That is in no small part because of Loudoun Valley and Blacksburg being there. This past weekend in the Class 4 1600m final it was a "me vs the world" type of race with Loudoun Valley and Dominon's Omar Aougab

Watch his race here

In this second section of the 1600 there were a total of 11 athletes on the line, nine of which were where the Loudoun Valley gold and green. Joining them were Aougab, Johnny Babyak, and Shamond Smith.

Despite even being seeded 8th Omar was ready to run and fight for a title. That was clear with the way he ran and stayed near the front. He pushed the pace with Jacob Hunter leading the way and for most of the race sat in around 3rd to 5th place.

It wasn't until the final 400m that Omar made his move. He split a 32.8 and 30.5 his final two laps to have the fastest last 400 of an individual in that race. He crossed the line in second and took a look up at the board in shock.

He not only took second in the state but also ran a 7.3 second indoor PR too. His final time was 4:21.30 and it also beats his outdoor best.

This likely will not be the last we hear about Omar Aougab who, when running these type of times, can be considered a contender in any race he runs.
