Oscar Smith's Michael Cherry has made his first Olympic team by finishing second in the men's 400 on Sunday night. His time of 44.35 ranks him 4th in the entire world and 3rd amongst competitors who will actually run in the Olympics.
Cherry has earned multiple gold medals for Team USA in world relays and world championship events but the Tokyo 2021 Olympics will be his first time representing the US in the Olympics.
Michael Cherry has been a proven 43 seconds split on many relays and will certainly by looking for a sub 44 second time in the open at the Games.
