Weekend Recap: Meet Records Fall and The Heat Index Went Up

It was a huge opening weekend in Virginia, here are the takeaways and winners from it.

Knights Crossing

Boys Winners: Bazil Mathes (Monticello) - Blacksburg
Girls Winners: Hannah Rae Shaffer (NC) - Cardinal Gibbons (NC)
Editor's Notes: Bazil took down the meet record and looked very strong. He ran with a group of 4-5 until about the two mile mark and really opened it up. This win gives him a chance at moving up to #1 in our subjective rankings if he follows it up at Oatlands.

Pole Green XC

Boys Winners: Armaan Chopra (Princess Anne) - Clover Hill
Girls Winners: Allie Zealand (Pacers) - Pacers
Editor's Notes: Ideal conditions until the storms rolled in late. Allie Zealand looked dominant against a pretty solid field. Her time was the fourth fastest ever on it as well.

Great Meadow

Boys Winners: Trent Daniels (Gainesville) - Freedom South Riding
Girls Winners: Kate Loescher (Colonial Forge) - Mountain View
Editor's Notes: Very warm, only the top race was a 5K, the rest were 3K's.

Monroe Parker

Boys Winners: James Cicero (West Potomac) - Centreville
Girls Winners: Aidan MacGrath (West Springfield) - W.T. Woodson
Editor's Notes: This meet might have been the best preview for the northern regionals to come later season.
