Midlothian is one of those schools with a tradition of winning. They are one of the few schools to have individual and team winners on both the boys and girls side and on Saturday they got a new name added to that illustrious list with Kate Jaeger taking home the Class 5 girls' title.
Despite winning six team titles on the girls side and finishing second four additional times, it has been rare for Midlothian to get an individual champion. The last one they had was 17 years ago when Kathleen Lautzenheiser won the 2007 crown.
Kate was quick to note how much this title meant to her not only for winning but being able to consider herself a part of the Midlothian winning way. She is also hungry to defend her title as she is only a sophomore and has the chance to win more.
It should be noted though that the entire top three are all sophomores!
