Richmond Track To Host First Annual Fred Hardy Invitational

Spiders track and field will welcome 10 other squads to the newly named Fred Hardy Track and Field facility on the campus of the University of Richmond.

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - The University of Richmond track and field team will host the First Annual Fred Hardy Invitational Friday-Saturday, March 25-26, at the Fred Hardy Track and Field Facility at First Market Stadium on the Richmond campus.

The Spiders, who will compete as the event hosts, will welcome 10 teams to the event including Pittsburgh, Virginia, VCU, William & Mary, James Madison, Concord, George Washington, Shippensburg and West Chester. The field will also include several unattached athletes, most notably Samuel Okantey who competed in the triple jump at the 2000 Olympiad in Sydney, Australia. Okantey holds a personal best of 54-11.50 in the event.

Events are scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. Friday afternoon and will conclude at approximately 6 p.m. The meet will resume Saturday morning with field events and the women\'s 100 meter hurdles scheduled to get underway at 10 a.m.
