The final Eastern Region Cross Country Championships will be held Thursday, November 1st at Bells Mill Park in Chesapeake. The boys' race will start at 3 PM and will be followed by the girls' race at 3:30 PM. Hurricane Sandy dumped a lot of rain in the area earlier this week, so it will be interesting to see the course conditions and how it might affect times, but then again at this point of the season, it is all about who you beat. It has been tough for any Eastern Region team over recent years to beat any cross country squad produced by coach Mike Nestor at Ocean Lakes. The Ocean Lakes cross country program will attempt to make it a sweep of the team titles for the third consecutive year, but their boys' squad will have their hands full with the Southeastern District's best including the top regionally ranked team at Hickory.
