The Westfield boys nearly pulled it off and almost became repeat Championships of America winners in the 4x800 meter relay. After running a 7:47 qualifying time for Saturday's finals in front of the biggest crowds of the weekend at the Penn Relays. The foursome of Max Chambers, Jeff Edmondson, Troy Sevachko, and Nathan Kiley for Westfield came to race in a title defense attempt and battled it out in a classic duel with New Jersey's Pleasantville High School.

A list of the top returning individuals in each event among Eastern Region Region schools from last year's outdoor season and links to full returnees rankings lists in each event. Great Bridge's Heather Smith was able to improve drastically in the 55 meter hurdles this past indoor season to get her time down to 8.12 in the event, but she is going to feel truly at home now that outdoor season has come so she can compete in her best event in the 300 meter hurdles. The defending Group AAA state 300 meter hurdles champion with a personal best of 43.54, the University of Virginia signee Smith is back to defend her state outdoor title and expects also to challenge for a 60 second time in the 400 meter hurdles in the post-season and summer.
