Sophie Chase, a freshman distance runner for Lake Braddock, is fairly new to both cross country and track but has quickly risen in half of a year to become one of the state's best competitors as the Group AAA indoor 3200 meter state champion and freshmen mile winner at the National Scholastic Indoor Championships this past winter. With a cross country PR of 18:28, she was instrumental in helping Lake Braddock win the state championship in November to add another title to the storied program from Burke, Virginia. Chase's fast success as a freshmen is matched by very few in Lake Braddock's great history of past champions to encourage plenty of excitement towards the future and potential for this up and coming star. MileStat.com junior staff writer Hannah Lieberman interviewed Chase after her break from racing in between the indoor and outdoor seasons.
