Before moving to Birmingham, AL with his family, Tyler Stanfield dominated the 1600 meter run at the Texas High School Championships by winning the event his sophomore and junior years. Tyler is currently a senior at Homewood High School (Birmingham, AL).
The Open Events are attracting some of the nation's elite adult athletes including Olympic Gold Medalists Dan O'Brien and Allen Johnson, Olympic Silver Medalist Adam Nelson and the Number One Shot Putter for 2001, Janus Robberts.
Megan and Shannon Radermacher of Klein High School (Houston, TX) will be coming into run the 800, they ran 2:12.14 (Megan) and 2:14.16 (Shannon) this past year. The two have been on the national scene since their youth days in the JO program.
The Kansas City Sprinters Elite will be bringing a large group of their talented runners to the meet. They will be competing in the 4x200m and 4x400m relays as well as numerous individual events.
Donovan Kilmartin from Eagle High School (Meridian, ID) will be competing in several field events: High Jump (6' 10.25"), Pole Vault (16' 4.75"), and the Long Jump (23' 11.75"). He is one of the great all-around athletes in the sport.
Megan Fox, a junior from Fort Collins High School (Fort Collins, CO) and the Colorado State Champion in the 400m dash with a time of 55.10 has become the first offical entry into the meet. She has also posted a time of 25.01 for the 200m dash.
Megan Kaltenbach from Smoky Hill High School (Aurora, CO) is running the two-mile. She is only a junior and was number five in the US last year in 10:15.37 for a full two-miles. She was the National Indoor Champion and the Arcadia Champion at the distance
After serious consideration and due to the fact that some schools do not have an indoor track season, we are going to allow club teams to enter relay teams. What this means is that a relay team can consist of members from different high schools.
Jessica Marie Kinney from Judson High School (Converse), one of the top five sprinters in South Texas who recently finished 3rd in the 100m dash at the South Texas AAU Championships will be competing in the 60m dash, 200m dash, 400m dash and Long Jump.
Mt. Tabor High School's Mike Loyd will be coming in from Winston-Salem, NC to compete in the 200m dash. His personal record in the event is 21.44 and has also posted a 14.22 in the 110 hurdles and 10.70 in the 100m dash.
MEN'S MILE has been added to the meet, and more Elite/Open events will be announced at a later date. Jason Pyrah will come into attempt to break the 4 minute mile, never before broken in the state, Pyrah holds the Devaney Center Record from his days @ BYU
Alison Tubbs, a junior from Enumclaw, WA who ran a 10:15.34 (two mile #4 US) and United States best 5000m with 16:44 will be coming in for the two mile.
Rafael Asafo-Agyei from Don Lugo High School (Chino, CA) who ran 1:50.70 this past year will be coming in to compete in the 800 meter run. He is currently the nation's number 3 returning boys 800m runner.
On Friday the Nebraska Track Team will be hosting a meet with Arizona, BYU, Colorado, Washington State and Oregon (Men). Tentative start time is 5:00 p.m. and the meet will conclude approximately at 9:00 p.m.
National Power Long Beach Wilson, typically one of the best girls sprint teams in the country, will be making a trip in California for the meet. This past year they ran 45.10 for the 4x100 (#1 US), 1:37.93 for the 4x200 (#6 US), and 3:35.72 for the 4x400.
Shannon Rowbury from Sacred Heart Catholic High School (San Fransico) has committed. She ran 2:08.52 (800) and 4:30.28 (1500 #2 US) and was also the National Champion in the 800 at the adidas Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Raliegh, NC.
The Rockford, MI girls distance team is coming. They were the National Champions in the 4 x Mile at 20:24.34 which is a National Record.
AMITC has just added the Distance Medley Relay (1200-400-800-1600) and the 4 x Mile Relay. We are limiting entries to ten teams per event per gender. The new events come just in time for one of Virginia's top distance runners, Bryce Ruiz.
