This week was states week and it did not disappoint. Colby Burcham won his second consecutive title as the Deep Run girls stole first place, Maggie Walker continued their dominance, and Mary Caroline Heinen destroyed her competition.
This week was regionals week for VHSL classes 1-6, as well as the state competition for Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association (VISAA) schools.
Richmond teams only attended one meet this weekend - the MileStat.com Invitational - so we'll be doing a deep dive into what went down at Pole Green Park. Glen Allen continued their cohesiveness, and Deep Run's boys did not disappoint. Cosby and Midlothian performed well on the girls' side.
Two principal races happened this weekend - Albemarle and CNU - with L.C. Bird attending Glory Days as well. Maggie Walker was dominant, and we saw impressive induvial efforts out of Burcham, Plummer, and Heinen.
This weekend, we saw two competitive meets - the V.T.C.A. Invitational and Patrick Henry Invitational - as well some impressive individual performances, namely from defending 5A state champion Colby Burcham. Glen Allen's boys also took care of business at the Octoberfest Invitational.
This weekend revolved around a couple of high-octane meets - RVA and Fork Union - both with different formats, giving us a chance to see runners perform in new ways.
