Region D boys team champion still being disputed May 21, 2012

(Photo by Andrew Kicinski)   No full results with boys team scores have been posted yet from this past Saturday's Region D Track & Field Championships because the meet results are still being disputed due to a strange and unique finish to the meet in the boys' 4x400 meter relay, which will ultimately decide the team champions. Placing in 6 events and totaling 40 points total with individual titles in the long jump, 200 meter dash, and 400 meter dash, Wise County Central freshmen Logan Reynolds proved to be the most versatile athlete of the meet and major reason for her school's team championship. Reigning Group A state discus champion Nikolas Huffman of Virginia aims to add a shot put title this spring to his dominance in the discus. Huffman set a meet record in the shot put with a mark of 55'10.50". Huffman is one of the state's top throwers this spring regardless of classification with season best marks of 58'3" in the shot and 181'1" in the discus.   Thomas Walker junior Tyler Scott sprang up to a clearance of 6'6" in the high jump to position himself as a state title in contender in two weeks. As a sophomore, Scott qualified for state competition and finished 19th with a 6'0" clearance. A mere freshmen was a regional champion in the boys' long jump and 110 meter hurdles at the Region D Meet in Gate City's Robbie Hicks with a leap of 21'11.50" in the long jump and 15.85 clocking in the 110 meter hurdles.   Region D Results
