Athlete Spotlight: Eric Ways (Woodberry Forest)

Oscar Smith's Michael Cherry is clearly the state's best quarter miler, but the state's next great 400 meter runner may not far be too far behind him and waiting for his claim as the best next year in Woodberry Forest School junior Eric Ways. Ways is actually a native and resident of Durham, North Carolina, but spends his entire school year at a boarding school in Woodberry Forest, Virginia. This past summer, Ways broke through into the 48 second range in the open 400 and won a USATF Junior Olympic National title in the event.
