2017 BOYS AND GIRLS 3A/4A
STATE INDOOR TRACK & FIELD MEET INFORMATION

The Group 3A/4A State Indoor Championships will be conducted at Roanoke College in Salem, Virginia on Friday, February 24 and Saturday, February 25. This years venue is the new Cregger Center on the campus of Roanoke College.

MILESTAT WINDOW: The window will open at noon on Sunday, 2/12/2017 and close at 3:00 PM on Sunday 2/19/2015.

ENTRY INSTRUCTIONS: Entries will be done by using Milestat.com online entry service. In addition to Milestat each school will also submit the VHSL State Meet Entry form according to instructions given to you by your Regional Director. All entries must be submitted using FAT times, Failure to convert these entries by the director and/or coach will render the competitors ineligible.

ADMISSIONS: Admission is $10.00 per day. No charge for children age 6 and under, accompanied by a paying spectator. Each participant will need his/her competitor's number for admission. Accepted passes for State events include VHSCA, VHSL, VIAAA, VATA, VSBA, and Principals State Membership Cards. Please see the VHSL 2016-2017 Acceptable Pass form for the complete list.

COACHES MEETING: The coaches' meeting is set for February 24 at 11:30 am. Coaches may pick up school kits at the table in the entrance hallway outside of the Track area. They will contain seed sheets, competitors' numbers and any other information that may be necessary.
Coachs passes will be issued in accordance with VHSL Policy by team gender. Additional coaches or school personnel can be admitted using one of the Cards shown on the VHSL 2016-2017 Acceptable Pass form.
1-5 athletes 1 Pass
6 -10 athletes 2 passes
11 or more athletes 3 passes
Competitor Numbers and hand stamps will be used for Athletes to exit and re-enter the Track area.

FACILITY: The Cregger Center Track is a 6 lane 200meter Beynon BSS 1000 Hobart textured surface. Only 1/4" pyramid spikes or flats may be used. No grounddown spikes are permitted. Any athlete using spikes other than the 1/4" pyramid spikes will be disqualified from this meet. Team Camps will be located in the adjacent arena. Teams are not permitted on the playing surface level of the arena.

RULES: NFHS Track and Field Rule Book for 2016 as well as the VHSL rules as stated in the VHSL handbook will be observed.

EQUIPMENT: Each team must furnish its own towels, shots and poles. Starting blocks will be furnished. Each contestant must wear proper track uniform, which shall consist of a jersey (with a number provided by VHSL), trunks and shoes as identified in rule 43 of the current rulebook. Dressing room facilities will NOT be available.

SHOT: Implement Certification will be at Shot Circle Area. NOTE: THE SHOT USED IN GIRLS COMPETITION WILL BE. 4.0 kg. BOYS SHOT WILL BE 12 lbs.
Vaulters - will certify their poles and weigh in the Pit Area. Vaulters must weigh-in dressed as they will compete, including shoes, helmets etc. For exact times please see the time schedule.

AWARDS: Team Trophies (1st & 2nd) will be presented at the conclusion of the meet. Individual medals (1st-6th) will be bagged and given to Coaches at the conclusion of the meet. Scoring will be 8 places

PARTICIPATION LIMITATIONS: A contestant may compete in any number of field events but shall be limited to participation in only three running events; except that a contestant, who competes in the 3200M run, may compete in only one other running event on the same day as the 3200M run.

If a contestant is entered in a field event, which conflicts in the time schedule with a track event in which he is entered, he shall make advance arrangements with the official in charge of the field event to postpone his trials until after the track event has been run. No track or field event will be held up to accommodate a contestant.

NOTE: Competitors shall be disqualified for an event if his/her coach, manager, attendant or any one associated with his/her team is on the infield (the track, the enclosure inside, or those areas designated only for officials and contestants actually participating or preparing for an event.

ELIGIBLE TO STATE MEET: Entries may be only those contestants who placed first, second, third, fourth, fifth or sixth in a Regional Championship Meet or those contestants who were properly reported by the Conference or Regional Meet Director as having met the state qualifying standards at the Conference or Regional Championship Meets (trials or finals) or who met the state qualifying standard in a meet of 3 or more teams and who have been verified by the CONFERENCE OR REGIONAL REPRESENTATIVE, or have submitted the State Standard Verification form to the CONFERENCE AND REGIONAL REPRESENTATIVE. If an athlete or Relay qualifies by placing in the top six at the regional meet; they may enter as their seed time or performance into the state meet, their best time or performance achieved at any meet of 3 or more teams during the season (even if it doesnt meet the state standard) so long as it is legitimately verifiable by their Conference and Regional Meet Director through the Milestat Database.

SEEDING: Seeding for all events shall be done on the basis of marks attained in conference and regional meets or marks attained in meeting the state qualifying standard that are verified by your Regional Director using the Milestat web site.
In state events of 300 meters or less, including hurdles all FAT qualifying times will be seeded above hand held qualifying times.

CONFIRMATION OF ENTRIES: Contestants from a school are confirmed for the meet unless the Coach E-mails his or her scratches to the State Meet Director or The Regional Representative by Noon Monday, February 20th.

No additions to or changes in the official list of entries (other than scratches shall be permitted after the entry has been received.
