Notification to all coaches and
athletes.
Our goal is to have a safe
competition for our athletes and coaches.
Spectators will not be allowed at this meet.
All athletes, coaches, and meet workers must have a
temperature check and register below 100 F degrees to enter the facility.
Masks are to be worn
at all times when an athlete is not moving in a warmup or while participating
in an event. Athletes will be reminded to keep masks up and social distance (10
feet) by meet officials. Failure to comply will result in a warning
to the athlete and their coach, to be noted by the meet referee. If the athlete continues to have problems,
they will be asked to leave the area and sit with their team for the duration
of the meet unless they are in actual competition. Any further problems will result in
disqualification of the athlete from any further competition.
Equipment use:
Shots will be weighed
and certified by the referee. Indoor or
Outdoor Shots may be used that meet the official weight. After weigh in, the shot will be sanitized;
at that point the athlete using the shot will be the only person to make
contact with the implement. They will be
required to retrieve their shot after they exit the back of the circle and the
official marks each throw.
Starting Blocks: Once an athlete touches a set of blocks, no
one else touches them until they are sanitized. Inform athletes to be patient, and wait for this to be done. Hands free sanitizer stations will be
available at the finish line for athletes to use after each race.
Batons: Each school provides their own batons. Athletes should sanitize their hands as soon
as possible after their race.
Pole Vault Poles: No sharing of poles. Only the athlete using the pole is allowed to
touch the pole.
Meet Procedures:
Tarps will be used to
cover the High Jump and Pole Vault Pits for each jumper. We will have athletes jump in flights of
four. Tarps will be switched for each
jumper. After each flight is completed,
the tarps will be sanitized for the next flight of four to use.
Running Events: Sections and flights will be kept smaller to
allow for minimal contact between athletes during competition. Warmup: Athletes will not be allowed on the Track or infield until two events
prior to their competition. Additional
warmup must be done outside the Track or Infield with social distancing being
practiced.
The Infield Area will
be restricted to meet workers which may include coaches who are actually
assigned a duty on the Infield.
Coaches: It is imperative that you emphasize the
importance of following these procedures with your athletes prior to the
regional competition. Future
competitions for the 2021 season could be eliminated if we as a group do not
follow these guidelines.
