It was a strong start to the Lake Braddock Hall of Fame Invitational on Friday, which takes the place of the meet formerly known as the Allen Johnson Invitational. James Robinson's Genamarie McCant, the AAA state indoor 500 meter champ, posted a state leading time of 56.36 to run the nation's fastest time this spring by a ninth grader. The girls 3200 meter run saw a great finish between Osbourn Park junior Ariel Karabinus (11:03.10) and West Potomac junior Julianne Bigler (11:03.39). Meanwhile, Centreville's Yazid Zouaimia (pictured right by Ted Plunkett) had a big break through race to drop 20 seconds from his previous personal best to win with a final time of 9:25.66. Vincent Brown of South Lakes dropped nearly three tenths of a second off from the previous fastest time in the state with his 14.31 victory on Friday at Lake Braddock in the 110 meter hurdles.
