Fort Defiance Polar Bear 2022! Since 2004 FDHS has offered polar bear meets to teams wishing to get more opportunities during the indoor track season for their athletes. 

Blue Ridge Timing will be providing timing services for the meet. 

The meet will be limited to Augusta and Rockingham County Schools and the cities therein.

There will be a $150 fee to cover expenses for timing system. Please make checks payable to: Fort Defiance High School. Mail to: Fort Defiance High School, Att: Melissa Hill, 195 Fort Defiance Rd., Fort Defiance, VA 24437. Please send fee by December 1. 

The meet is on December 6, 2022. We will start as close to 4:30 as possible. Nobody is allowed on the infield. The parking lot will be closed to traffic and will be the area for teams to set up camp and also warm up.

There are 4 entries per event. The JV division is open to 8th and 9th grade athletes ONLY. 9th grade athletes must participate as varsity OR JV, they may not be entered in both. 

Athletes may participate in up to 3 running events if they are not running the 3200 run. If they are running the 3200, they are limited to one other running event. Athletes are not restricted on number of field events. 

Entries will close on December 5 at 8:00 p.m.!

As usual, these meets are a 'community' effort and coaches will be asked to help in conducting events. 

The schedule will be as follows:

Field Events:

Women's and Men's Long Jump Open Pit: 60 minutes to get 3 jumps, followed by Women's and Men's Triple jump Open Pit for 60 minutes. 

Men's High Jump followed by Women's High Jump

Women's Shot Put followed by Men's Shot Put

Running Events: Women's events followed by male. JV sections followed by varsity

1600 Meter Run
