River Ridge District XC Championships
Girls Championship: 4:15pm
Boys Championship: 5:00pm
Alternate boys/ girls race*: 5:25pm
Awards: 5:50pm
Top four teams as well as individual runners that finish in the top 15 advance to the Region IV Championships.
Team championship trophy and medals to the top seven. Certificates for runners placing 8th through 15th. Awards will take place in the football stadium. If raining they will take place in the High School gym.
Concessions and festive t-shirts will be on sale.
You are allowed to enter ten runners but only can race seven in the championship race. There will be an alternate race for coaches wishing to run those athletes after the championship races.
Boy and girl alternates will run together and coaches should time their own runners. We will attempt to time the alternate race but first priority is the championships races.
Registration is through www.milestat.com. You also must get your VHSL District entry form to Jack Hencke by Monday, October 25th by 6pm. Fax number is 540-951-5714. You can also email an attachment to jhencke@mcps.org
The district entry form is located at: http://www.vhsl.org/files/xc-district-entry-form.doc We are aware the VHSL form says Saturday by midnight, but we will take them up to Monday by 6pm. Milestat entry and VHSL form are both due Monday at 6pm (October 25th).
Parking Directions: Student dismissal is at 2:40pm. Arriving at the course from 2:40 to 2:55 will have some traffic. By 3pm the student traffic is cleared out. From I-81 take exit 118B. Follow the 460 bypass for about 5 miles. From 460 Bypass, take the second Prices Frok exit (away from downtown Blacksburg). Go 1.5 miles. Watch for Kipps Elementary School on your left (this building has a visible green roof). The next building is Blacksburg High School (3109 Prices Fork Road, Blacksburg, VA 24060). Parking for cross country course is behind the school. Take the SECOND entrance into the school. Follow the road all the way down to the course (volunteers will be directing traffic). Buses will park on the left side of the parking lot - closes to the team tent area.
Spectator parking will be to the center or right side of the lot.
Spectator cost: The district charges $3.00 per person or $5.00 per car (payable as cars/ spectators enter paved lot).
Restroom facilities - The restrooms at the football stadium will be used. They are set up for 3000 people and are located 100 meters from the parking lot or 250 meters from the team tent/ start area.
