VHSL Group AA State Meet 2005

Blacksburg - Sarah Bowman a senior from Fauquier County set the national record in the 1000m in 2:43.40 as she smashed the old record set by Ari Lambie (2:45.46) of Massachusetts in 2003. I asked Sarah before the race what her plans were and she said she was skipping the 1600m in order to try to get the record in the 1000m. Bowman led from the gun until the finish as she went through the first 200m in 29 seconds, 400m in 62 seconds, and 800m in 2:08.
