Salute to Seniors series feature on Tuscarora distance runner Logan Feierbach. In his senior year at Tuscarora High School in Leesburg, Logan Feierbach was a state qualifier and All-Region performer in both cross country and outdoor track. Feierbach clocked personal best times of 4:28 in the 1600 meter run and 1:58 in the 800 meter run.

The school record holder in the 1000 (2:37.93 best), Markham just missed All-State honors this past indoor season in the event with a 9th place finish in the Group AA State Indoor Championships at Liberty University.

Salute to Seniors series feature on North Stafford jumper Manasseh Bowles. Bowles had a strong close to his final season of high school track as he grabbed his first All-State honors with a 7th place finish in the Group AAA State Championships at Todd Stadium with his triple jump mark of 45'0.25 after failing to qualify for the indoor state championships.

Salute to Seniors: Trey Gibson (William Byrd) MileSplit Staff Jun 18, 2013

During his high school career at William Byrd, Trey Gibson was an All-Region performer numerous times in cross country and track. The Blue Ridge District runner-up in cross country this past fall, Gibson finished 33rd in the Group AA state meet before unfortunately missing most of his senior season of track. Going back to his junior year, Gibson had great success on the track running a string of PR's with best times of 1:58.85 in the 800, 4:28 in the 1600, and 10:06 in the 3200.

Salute to Seniors: Mary Cate Scully (South County) MileSplit Staff Jun 18, 2013

At the 2012 Gojekian Twilight Classic, Mary Cate Scully set a brisk pace for the first 1600 meters of her 3200 meters and kept it going for another 1600 meters to have a big breakthrough performance with a PR time of 10:54. Her season several weeks after that meet was derailed and cut short due to injury, which forced her to play catch up in cross country and during much of her senior season to regain that form shown in that 10:54 3200 effort. Nonetheless, Scully was able to be a valuable and significant contributor to the South County girls in both their indoor and outdoor state team titles

Salute to Seniors series article feature on Heritage (Lynchburg) jumper Nikalas Graves. Graves was a Group AA state qualifier this past year in both the long jump and triple jump at the indoor and outdoor state championships including an All-State 7th place finish in the triple jump indoors. Headed to Western Texas College next, Graves produced personal best leaps in both the long jump (21'6.50") and triple jump (45'8.75") at the Seminole District Outdoor Championships last month.

Salute to Seniors series article feature on Lake Braddock distance runner JJ Pitrelli. Behind his team's two state caliber runners in Nick Tuck and Alex Corbett, Pitrelli has been one of the Lake Braddock's squads consistent performances in the distance events as a regular member of the team's top 7 in cross country which placed 4th in the state meet this past fall and was able to run a 1600 PR of 4:36 in his final open race in the Patriot District Championships.

Salute to Seniors series feature on Courtland distance runner Victoria Parent. Parent was one of the better distance runners from the Battlefield District in recent memory as she had a sensational close to her cross country season this past fall when she went from second place in the district and third place in the region to finishing 13th for Group AA All-State honors at Great Meadow.

Salute to Seniors series feature on Deep Run hurdler Denzel Boyd. Boyd was the Colonial District runner-up indoors in the 55 meter hurdles and outdoors in the 110 and 300 meter hurdles this past spring. Staying local for college as he will attend VCU, Boyd posted senior year bests in the hurdles of 8.18 in the 55, 15.37 in the 110, and 40.25 in the 300 meter hurdles.

Since her freshmen year at Forest Park, Allyson Bodmer was consistently one of the better distance runners in the Cardinal District and Northwest Region. A 19:23 5K best and district runner-up last cross country season, the Virginia Tech recruit Bodmer excelled even more at track especially at the 1600 meter distance which she earned All-State honors as a junior from the slow section of the Group AAA State Outdoor Championships with a 5:03 PR.

Salute to Seniors series article of Bishop O'Connell distance runner J.J. LaPointe. LaPointe closed incredibly strong for his senior year in winning the Virginia Catholic schools state titles in the 1600 and 800 and followed up with wins at the even more competitive WCAC Championships in the 1600 (4:21) and 3200 (9:30) and an impressive 1:58 800 PR in between

Salute to Seniors series article on Osbourn Park distance runner Rachel Kronlein. Kronlein was a four-year member of the Osbourn Park cross country team and was able to improve over 3 1/2 minutes from her first 5K race (24:57) as a freshmen to her final cross country race as a senior in a 21:13 PR race at the Cardinal District JV Festival.

A late arrival to the sport (joined as a sophomore to get in shape for soccer), Boros made up ground quickly in his senior year to become arguably the top distance runner in the Eastern Region and one of the top tier runners in the state of Virginia.

Salute to Senior series article on Abingdon distance runner Tanner Cook, who was a Group AA All-State runner in cross country (junior year) and track (indoors this past year). The King College recruit Cook was putting together a strong senior season of cross country including a 15:56 5K PR down at the Wendy's Invitational before an injury shut down his season.

Salute to Seniors: Kristi Carrigan (Oakton) MileSplit Staff Jun 10, 2013

Our first salute to seniors series article is on Oakton distance runner Kristi Carrigan, who added great depth to a loaded Oakton distance girls squad in both cross country and track with personal best times of 2:22 in the 800, 3:06 in the 1000, 5:13 in the 1600, and 19:25 for 5K. Carrigan ran a leg on Oakton's national runner-up 4xmile relay from this past indoor season and will be continuing her running career at West Point.
