This weekend was huge for Virginia. Not only from the standpoint of great performances but also from sheer numbers of performances. There were giant meets all over the state and that meant a whole bunch of winners. Here are the big winners from the weekend.

Titiana Marsh (Thomas Dale)

US #1 41-8.75 Triple Jump 

Titana has been on a non-stop domination tour since her final jump of indoor states a year ago. She has gone on to win every single long and triple jump competition since then. She got to a quick start this season opening with US #1's in both events and had a huge weekend at St. Chris improving to 41-8.75 in the triple. This improves her US #1 and is VA #3 All-Time. This mark moves her very close to the 42-00.25 sophomore national record that she is no doubt chasing this season. She already holds the freshman national record. 

Zach Witt (Glen Allen)

9:40.78 3200m Run 

This may not have been a season pr for Zach but it was certainly one of, if not, his best races ever. He leaned at the line to hold off Dan Horoho by just a few ten thousandths of a second! This was an actual photo finish! 

Mallory Pitchford (James River)

VA #3 7.09 55m Dash & VA #6 8.29 55mH

Mallory finally really opened her season up and showed that she is a lot faster this year. She ran a VA #3 7.09 in the 55 and followed that up with a VA #6 8.29 in the hurdles. This was an easy double for her and shows she is ready to run at the big 6A state meet next month. 

Kyle Hammer (James River) 

VA #4  2:34.68 1000

Having a huge break through race was James River's Kyle Hammer who had a serious pr in the 1000 this weekend to drop his time three seconds in his season opener. Those were some big three seconds and moved him all the way to VA #4 this year.

Bridget Abbatiello (Stafford) 

VA # 2:57.51 1000

Also having a huge break through race was Bridget who finally dipped under 3:00 in the 1000 after having come close many times. This was also a huge win for her considering the strong level of competition that was assembled for this meet. 

Joey Cuevas (St. Christopher's) 

VA #2 4:21.98 1600

Representing and protecting his home track, Joey blazed the eight laps around the track to clock a very impressive 4:21.98 in the 1600. This is the second fastest time in the state this year and the fastest VISAA time too.
