GREENSBORO, NC - The senior loaded War platoon of Goulet, Towe, Richardson, and Johnson put on a show in the opening final of Saturday's action to the tune of a US #4 all-time 1:34.23 clocking. This time was not only good enough to win the national title but it also shattered their previous Virginia state record by two seconds and dropped the meet record down a second as well.
This team has only run twice this year and both times they ran state records. This also follows up from their indoor state record and national championship up at the Armory in New York City.
The opening two legs (Goulet & Towe) moved well but Richardson capitalized largely on her 400m strength as she moved down the back stretch to pull even with Miami NW (Florida). It was then all up to Johnson to bring it home and what she did is nothing short of amazing. Her split is likely going to be the only one that rivals Syndey McLaughlin's from earlier this weekend too considering she split in 22.6!
This quartet is not done though as they still have the 800m SMR, Shuttle Hurdle Relay, 4x100m Relay, and 4x400m Relay this weekend.
