Kerrigan Chaney Wins States, Remains Undefeated

By our count, there are just two girls in the entire state that are undefeated and have run in invitationals this year. One of them is Gillian Bushee and the other is Kerrigan Chaney. Bushee will be pushed to the limit Saturday in the Class 6 State Championships while Chaney just won her first VISAA State XC title.

Kerrigan Chaney is only a sophomore and already owns a personal best of 17:57, run at Panorama Farms. She could seriously be a sub 17:30 girl on a faster course too.

On Thursday, against decent competition, she absolutely dropped the field in route to her victory. Her 18:45 time was second fastest on the day (Maddie Gardiner was a little faster) and she did it solo from the start. Her time also ranks 6th all-time on the course.

Kerrigan rose to fame in 2020 when she won the middle school state title in XC with her 14:41 clocking. Roughly 18:20 pace.

Kerrigan has also raced and beat some of the best competition in the state this season including fellow VISAA Stars Maddie Gardiner and Reese Dalton. It will be exciting to see if Kerrigan continues her XC post-season and will also be exciting to watch this track season as well.
