Jackson and Hatch reverse the outcome

RADFORD, VA -- At last week\'s Run For The Hills Invitational Jefferson Forest\'s Cate Jackson and Christiansburg\'s Justin Hatch both finished third respectively as Dena Spickard of Marion won the girls\' race and Tommy Antenucci finished second in the boys\' race. A week later at the Radford Fall Classic, Jackson and Hatch reversed the outcome as Jackson (20:07) defeated Spickard (4th, 20:50) and Hatch (16:47) beat Antenucci (2nd, 16:58) on the tough Radford 5K course. It was the end of a tiring week for both Antenucci and Spickard though as they had ran in three races in eight days. Also having a strong run was freshmen Anna Chase of Martinsville who took runner-up honors in the girls\' race (20:20). Expect great things from her this fall.

Jefferson Forest boys kept up their early season success as they won their second consecutive invitational this fall (73 pts). The Cavaliers of Jefferson Forest put three runners in the top fifteen as they all came in at 18:15 with Nathan Hunt (10th), Will Farlow (11th), and Kevin Kadak (12th). Talk about a pack there. Rounding out their top five was Karl Bach (16th, 18:21) and Bryan Hutchison (24th, 18:54). Marion had a decent showing for second with 98 points as Will Johnson (8th, 18:10) and Brian Freeman (13th, 18:15) led the team.

Jefferson Forest girls also brought him a first place trophy (51 pts) to top off a successful meet for Coach Loy\'s teams as they placed four in the top 15 with Jackson, Carling Sitterly (6th, 21:21), Meg Dailey (13th, 22:07), and Holly Carwile (15th, 22:52). Following after Jefferson Forest was Christiansburg (59 pts) and Blacksburg (71 pts).
