Hampton University junior Yvette Lewis ( Newport News , Va. ) used the final indoor meet of the track and field season to turn in the top collegiate triple jump mark in the country at this weekend\'s Virginia Tech Last Chance Meet. The former Menchville High School standout posted a mark of 45-01 to finish second to Nike athlete Tiombe Hurd.
Hampton University senior Kellie Wells (Richmond, Va./James River HS) has been selected to participate in the invitational section of the women\'s 60-meter hurdles at the 99 th Millrose Games, which will be held February 3 at Madison Square Garden in New York. This is the second consecutive year that Wells has been extended an invitation to compete amongst a field that includes Olympian Gail Devers. Last year Wells placed fifth overall in the event.
Seven individuals and two relay teams from Hampton University will compete at the 2005 NCAA Division I East Regional Track & Field Championships set for this Friday and Saturday, May 27 and 28 at Icahn Stadium in Randall\'s Island, New York.
