Several Virginia schools invaded Pennsylvania this past weekend and came home with some serious hardware on the hilly 8050 course. Leading the way was Christopher Newport University who placed their top 4 in the top 15 places to win the race in a score of 58 points. Leading the way for CNU was Cary Chaffee who posted a time of 26:43 to take runner-up honors in the field of 208 runners.

Christopher Newport University\'s Brandon Miles and Cary Chaffee were honored by SouthRegionRunning.com as co-freshmen of the year for the NCAA Division III South/Southeast Region. Meanwhile, the CNU women\'s cross country team coaching staff of Keith Maurer, George Seward, and Cassie Stilley received honors as the region\'s top women\'s coaching staff for the season.
Old rivalries are renewed as the 2003 Cross Country season opens up this weekend. Two meets of note are the Salisbury University Seagull Opener and the Lynchburg College Blueridge Cross Country Challenge/ODAC preview.
