VHSL Group 3A State Indoor T&F Championships 2014

Liberty’s Tolsma Track is hosting an impressive four classifications’ state championships this week and many of them are projected to be extremely close team battles but the 3A Girls Championship does not adhere to that storyline. The 3A meet will be all Blacksburg’s to win or lose with them not only having some of the best runners in the entire state but having some of the best quality depth of any team at any level. 

Taking the performance list and scoring it as a meet, MileStat.com can generate a fairly accurate team score projection for the teams slated to compete at the Group 3A State Indoor Championships on Friday and Saturday at Liberty University's Tolsma Track Center in Lynchburg.

The team title race likely will be a three team battle between Lafayette, Christiansburg, and Blacksburg. These three teams are very familiar with each other and were all in the top four last season in the old AA classification. 

Virtual meet indoor track & field rankings for each of the two regions for the VHSL Group 3A classification. Breonta Crump of Hidden Valley is due for not only her first state title in the shot put but her first mark over 40 feet in the shot put as her current best sits at 39'11.25, only 3 quarters of an inch away from the mark. The Hidden Valley girls have been led by great distance runners over the years during track season, but their top track & field for 2014 may be found in their junior thrower Crump.

  A list of Group 3A state indoor automatic qualifiers as of December 31st. The Blacksburg girls essentially set the state standards for the distance races in Group 3A with so much depth over the years to have nearly half dozen of the fastest distance runners in their classification. Jenn Fleming is one of them as the Blacksburg junior is the lone state qualifier currently in Group 3A in both the 1000 (3:08) and 1600 (5:12) meter races.

A list of Group 3A state indoor automatic qualifiers as of December 18th. William Byrd's Marcellus Fletcher punched his ticket early for the state indoor meet with a season opening mark of 46'0.75" at the Liberty Christmas Invitational on December 7th.
