Photo by Ted Plunkett At the Monroe Parker Invitational on Tuesday afternoon, the individual race for first among the boys was a thriller between Chantilly's Chris Foley and Thomas Edison's Leoule Degfae with both runners timed at 15:27 on the 2.98 mile course. With Degfae being more middle distance geared as a 1:54 half miler, it was a surprise for the crowd at Burke Lake to see the All-State 2 miler Foley reel in Degfae in the final loop to the finish and sprint past him for the win in the final strides. Among the notable exceptions are Oakton, Herndon and Fairfax, all of which did not choose to enter the varsity races for the original date. Burke Lake has specifically requested that no teams are to enter the park prior to 2:30 p.m. on September 16. The Awards ceremony is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. Park personnel has also requested that all coaches, athletes and spectators must have vacated the park premises by 6:30 p.m.
