Potomac School pair eyeing VIS state titles after victories at Woodberry Forest Sep 15, 2008

Despite losing their long-time coach Mike Schroer after last outdoor track season, The Potomac School's top runners have continued to press on and appear to not be missing a beat after seeing two individuals win titles at Saturday's Woodberry Forest Invite on the home course of the Virginia Independent Schools State Championships. Potomac School sophomore Campbell Ross, younger brother of the 2007 VIS state champion Johns Ross, won by a convincing margin of 27 seconds against some of the better private school runners in the state with a 16:50 win. Meanwhile, Potomac School junior Anneka Wilson (pictured above by Ted Plunkett) has now improved her odds of winning a state championship this fall by winning at Woodberry Forest against last year's close state runner-up Barbara Strehler of Trinity in an impressive time of 19:23 given the heat and challenging course.
