Jefferson District XC Championships 2009

Western Albemarle should make an easy sweep of the team titles with dual meet like scores at the Jefferson District Championships on Wednesday. The Western girls, in particular, could really dominate with the potential to put their entire top seven ahead of any other team in the district's #2 runner and even the #1 runner on some teams within the district. Louisa's Hannah Best should spoil plans of a perfect score 15 point total from the Western Albemarle girls, while Western Albemarle has not had a clear #1 runner this season so several of the team's individuals could take first place. A mere four seconds separates the season best 5K times of the top four runners for the Western Albemarle boys with times just above 17 minutes. Monticello junior Nathaniel Hermsmeier and Louisa sophomore Chris Springer (pictured by Brandon Miles) are the top individuals contenders after only one place and two seconds separated the two runners at the Albemarle Invite as they finished ahead of the Western Albemarle pack.
