Woodside senior Brandon Burton (pictured above by Ryan Kelly) continued where he left off from in the indoor season by dropping another second from his PR 1:53 All-American run at the National Scholastic Indoor Championships with a US #5 1:52.6 800 meter performance on Saturday at the CNU High School Captain's Classic. Many state leading performances and automatic state qualiers were recorded in the meet, which was the largest in the state to date this spring with 1,200+ athletes competing. Look for plenty of photos & videos from the meet to be posted on Sunday and Monday. Complete results and performances entered in the database. A great duel in the girls 200 meter dash between two of the state's best in Keilah Tyson of Western Branch and Monica Williams of Green Run. Photo coverage provided both days by Ryan Kelly and video coverage on Saturday by Brandon Miles. In Friday's 4x800 meter relays, the fastest times came from the silver division comprised of the smaller schools. The Jamestown boys posted a time of 8:17.96 without featuring their national champion miler Colin Mearns, while the Maggie Walker girls won their section by 27 seconds with their performance of 9:47.82. More to come from CNU as Saturday's events should produce quite a few state leaders with many of the Eastern Region's best making their outdoor season debuts.
