Flashback: 7 Story Lines, 7 Predictions, and 7 Must-See Races

#3 Can VA Repeat Its Dominance at Foot Locker South?

Last year at Foot Locker South it was a historic year for VA. We had a record five guys qualify out of the boys race and two girls make the team while finishing in the top 5. Not to mention VA won both races as well.

This is a very difficult task to even begin to think about equalling. It is something that has never been done and could not happen again for 30 years. But it is possible.

It would take a lot for this to happen but the scenario is out there that if all the top talent in VA elected to run at Foot Locker this year we would have a real shot at doing even better than last year but with flipped roles.

If VA stacked both fields the big race would hands down be the girls' race. Picture Libby Davidson, Kate Murphy, Rachel McArthur, Heather Holt, Rachel Northcutt, and Sophia Jantomaso all in the same race! All six of those girls and a few others in VA could make the team.

Libby made the team the past two years and Kate has run at Nike both years alongside Rachel. Heather finished 11th, Rachel finished 30th, Sophia finished in the 20s as a sophomore, Emma Wolcott finished 22nd and Morgan Lewis finished 27th.

VA has the talent and speed and if everyone has a great race, it is not out of the ball park to see five or even six VA girls run 17:40 and make the team.

On the boys' side VA has quite a few guys that have a serious shot at making the team. The obvious two are Micah Pratt and Waleed Suliman who both made the team last year but Peter Morris, Price Owens, Grant Northcutt, Konrad Steck, Colton Bogucki, and many others have a strong argument to be on that team as well.
