4A State Meet Preview (July Edition)

Written as if States were this weekend (July edition)

The 4A classification once again looks to be the strongest in the state and now on Saturday could produce some of the fastest times on the weekend thanks to the flatter surface. Team wise it looks like it is all Loudoun Valley and Blacksburg in their respective races. Dominion will give chase in the guys' race while Valley tries to do the same in the girls'.

First up will be the girls. Blacksburg has not lost a 4A or 3A crown in quite some time and this year it looks like another. Loudoun Valley though will definitely try and do everything they can to finally beat them at Great Meadow.

Blacksburg and the competition is led by Kaitlynn Wolfe and Ailene Edwards while the number four ranked girl, Ricky Fetterolf, comes from Loudoun Valley. The only other girl in that mix is Kira Freedman of Grafton. This group of athletes will separate and make things fast.

The boys will be next and we could have another sweep on our hands. Though it looks unlikely, it did so last year too and that means it is certainly possible. The leaders of this Loudoun Valley group are Sam Affolder and Jacob Hunter who are both individual track champions. This race between them will be fast and exciting but don't expect them to break away until late.

Behind them two guys to watch are Max Etka and Theo Woods who in our opinion have the best shot at stopping the 1-5 sweep and perfect score.

Team wise Dominion has the strongest shot at second place with Midlothian, Blacksburg, and Fauquier also in the hunt too.
