After a huge weekend down in Lynchburg nearly every event saw some major changes. Check out the new state leaders and top 50 rankings for the girls' here.
Athletes from almost half of the states in the country will all be convening at the VA Showcase this weekend. This list includes national record holders, national champions, over 100 All-Americans, state record holders, and thousands more.
While nearly all the eyes in the nation are on the stacked Girls 1K race or even the loaded 4x2's both at the VA Showcase, many have overlooked the Boys' 300m dash which could be the best race of them all and one of the best ever.
This past Saturday the University of Florida felt a whole lot better about their frosh star Grant Holloway. But let's be real, they already felt great that they landed this superstar.
The biggest event of the year both by numbers and a scary high level of talent, is finally here. The VA Showcase will take place this Friday and Saturday on Liberty University's brand new $30,000,000 hydraulically banking track.
Virginia is probably pound for pound the strongest track & field state in the entire nation. We may not be the biggest state, well technically are the 12th largest state, but we definitely have one of the most prominent state teams. One event that VA has not been a national player in but now is, is the pole vault.
It has been a huge year and a half for Team VA, there is no arguing that. In fact it was so good that even Team NY would agree that Team VA is the most dominant state team in recent history. With all of these stars and many great teams it left us asking: who was the most popular (viewed) athlete and team in the state this past year.
Though the season is young and is about to heat up in a hurry this weekend, there have still be some very impressive performances. Here is your chance to vote for what has been the best performance roughly halfway thru the indoor track season.

Though the final section will be filled with likely eight girls all seeded under 3:00, there are five girls that just stand above the rest for this five lap, 1000m race.

So we know St. Jago, and really any Jamaican team, will bring the heat but they are not the only team in this race. Also slated to compete in this race and more specifically the top section of this race is current US #1 Western Branch, The Bullis School, and Grassfield. All three of these American teams are 1:37.5 or better teams.
While some teams are off on break, the Bruins of Western Branch are on the road again at the NYC Armory for their annual pre-nationals trip to get throw some fast times down. This year's trip to Washington Heights is just like others in the past and has been thus far very impressive.

2016-7 has been a historic year for Virginia indoor track. Despite not seeing a new track constructed in Virginia since Boo Williams Sportsplex opened on March 14th, 2008, this year VA saw the construction of three new 200m tracks and two of which are hydraulically banking.
