The VHSL State Cross Country Championships will be the center of attention this weekend for the entire Virginia running community. The meet features over 1,248 athletes from 215 teams all running on the historic Great Meadow State Meet Course.
This year's installment of States could be one of the best in recent history. It features a great mixture of defending team champions and teams who finished just short a year ago. The competition will be tough across the board and over both days of competition.
This year will likely featured more new state champions than any year before. Out of the twelve individual titles up for grabs ten of them will go to new state champions as only two, Mary Caroline Heinen (2A) & Sam Affolder (4A) return. They are also joined by Sophia Link and Jesey Ball who both won titles in 2016 as well.
