The VMI Track and Field/Cross Country staff is off to a great start in its recruiting efforts for the 2007-08 season, announcing the commitment of eight student-athletes for next year\'s freshman class. The class, being one of the largest early commitment totals in the program\'s history, is comprised of four men and four women who should all make an immediate impact for VMI track & field and cross country teams.

Brickner Heads West for NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championship Meet VMI Press Release May 31, 2005

unior Garrett Brickner (Fairfax Station, Va./Lake Braddock) of The Virginia Military Institute has qualified in the high jump for the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championship meet. The meet will take place in Sacramento, Calif. beginning on Wednesday June 8 and run through Saturday June 11. It will be held at the Alex G. Spanos Sports Complex in Sacramento with Sacramento State and The Sacramento Sports Commission serving as hosts.

Obuon to Compete in 200-Meter Dash at NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships VMI Press Release Mar 10, 2005

Sophomore sprinter Paulvince Obuon (Kisumo Kenya, Chianda) has qualified for the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships in the 200-meter dash for the second straight year and will be aiming to achieve his second All-American Honor in as many years. Obuon is the lone representative for VMI and will be competing at the championships which take place Friday and Saturday March 11-12 in Fayettville, Ark. Both the preliminaries and the finals of the 200 will take place Friday night with the preliminaries set for 7:30 pm and the finals scheduled for 9:00 pm.

VMI Cross Country Heads to South Carolina for Big South Championships VMI Press Release Oct 29, 2004

Sophomore Anthony Harris and junior Amber Blain will lead the VMI cross country teams into the Big South Conference Championships Saturday morning in Rock Hill, S.C. The competition will be familiar, as the Keydets have run against fellow Big South competition in each of the last three meets they have participated in. Over those meets, the Keydets have defeated league rivals Radford, Charleston Southern and Winthrop, while gaining valuable experience by competing against High Point and UNC Asheville four weeks ago.
