Both the University of Mary Washington women\'s and men\'s cross country teams finished in first place at the McDaniel College Invitational on Saturday in the teams\' first races of the season. For the women, who placed first among eight schools, Sophomore Alison Hazlett finished first overall, with a time of 19:43. Classmate Christy Falcone took third, at 21:10, and Stephanie Grimes placed fifth, at 21:28. Amy Pasler placed tenth at 21:47, and Liz Gerber took eleventh, at 21:50.
The University of Mary Washington women\'s track & field team won the Capital Athletic Conference championship on Saturday, thanks to two school records, and nine first place finishes. The Eagle men took second place in their competition with one school record and four first place finishes.

The men placed third with 53 points, behind Christoipher Newport\'s 36 points and Salisbury\'s 38 points. UMW\'s Todd Kronenberg (Reston, VA/South Lakes) placed first overall, at 25:33.
The Mary Washington cross country teams competed at the DeSales University invitational on Saturday. For the women, who finished seventh among 27 schools, Erin Connelly was the top finisher, in 26th place at 25:20. On the men\'s side, UMW placed sixth among 28 schools. UMW was led by Todd Kronenberg, at 27:15 in tenth place.
