Thomas Dale junior, Titiana Marsh, made the most of her first trip to a national championships this past weekend with two All-American finishes.
Hitting the workouts hard after states really paid off for Britton Wilson this weekend. She finished 3rd in the championship 400 with a sophomore national record of 53.250. She opened in a 25.592 for the first 200.
Even after running a monster 4:42.99 split in the DMR on Friday, Patriot senior Rachel McArthur found just another way to step up her game. On Sunday in the 800 it was the all Rachel show as she quickly took to the lead and never looked back. She went on to runaway with the national title in a US #9 all-time and VA state indoor record performance of 2:06.08.

In his first NCAA Championship race ever, Florida frosh Grant Holloway showed us once again why his middle initial is "W". He took home the win in a monstrous 7.58 to run away with the title over tough competition. That performance equaled the facility record for the Texas A&M arena.
It was another fast one at the Armory for Team VA in day two's action at New Balance Nationals. Highlighting the day was Western Branch's shuttle hurdle quartets who both broke the previous national record and placed a staggering 12 girls and four boys with All-American status.
The Bruins left nothing to doubt Saturday at the Armory in their favorite event, the shuttle hurdle relay. All year they flirted with their own national record from two years ago but this weekend they destroyed that school and national record. Their 30.63 was a .59 second improvement on their former 31.22.

Things started with a bang here at the Armory for Team VA at indoor nationals. This included a multitude of EE titles and numerous All-American finishes by some of the best athletes from the state.
Team VA had hands down the greatest showing we have ever had last year at indoor nationals and that was with Drew Hunter not even running individual events. This year we may not have as many stars but the fireworks are still going to go off this weekend at the Armory.
Last year girls from Virginia saw only a few victories at New Balance Nationals thanks to Weini Kelati. This year though it seems we have the potential to take home nearly 10 titles if things go perfectly.
Team VA per usual will be sending up a large contingent of top athletes to Washington Heights in NYC for New Balance Indoor Nationals. Out of this large group we have singled out 16 individuals and relay teams who have a real shot at taking home a national title this weekend.
This year's group of discus throwers have a real shot at moving way up the all-time leaderboards.

Despite being a junior with an astounding eight state titles to her name already, Titiana Marsh has yet to compete at either New Balance Indoor or Outdoor nationals. This season though is different, she is coming to NYC with one thing on her mind... a national championship.
2016 T.C. Williams alumni and adidas professional athlete, Noah Lyles just stepped his game up to yet another level. In his first USATF Indoor National Championships he not only took home a national title but also the world record in the event with his 31.87 clocking. That betters Olympian Wallace Spearman's 2006 31.88 clocking.

This weekend in the seeded Boys 6A 1000m race a bizarre thing happened, Peter Smith (Oscar Smith) was called for a false start and subsequently disqualified. Now we will be transparent, at the time watching the race live, about 10 feet away, we though it was completely the right call. It was also a somewhat refreshing thing to see a false start in a distance race but that really got us thinking... was this a fair false start or a fair enforcement of the rule.
States may be over but your chance to qualify for New Balance Indoor Nationals in New York isn't! This upcoming weekend (March 4th) the Boo Williams T&F Showcase will provide great fields and that last chance to slip into the top section or make the championships classification.
