William Byrd's DeShawn Austin was a hidden gem until this weekend where he showed out at the Class 3 State Meet.

High School Boys' 4x800m Relay 3A, Finals 2

Lafayette senior Tristin Harris talks about his win in the Class 3 triple jump and his US No. 3 mark of 51-4.75, which broke the state meet record by over a foot. Harris was also just one quarter of an inch off of Aaron Worrell’s (Woodside) overall state record (51-5) from 2013.

Turner Ashby’s Jackson Jeffrey talks about his incredible rise to winning the Class 3 shot put state title in his first year of the sport. He started the season with a best mark of 38 feet. His final throw on Friday was a personal-best by over five feet.

High School Girls' 4x800m Relay 3A, Finals 2

High School Boys' 4x800m Relay 3A, Finals 1

Manassas Park junior Vincent Roland shared the Class 3 high jump title with Cave Springs’ Hassane Doucoure after both had the same amount of misses at the previous height. Roland and Doucoure both cleared 6-6 on the third attempt before missing at 6-8.

High School Girls' 100m Hurdles 3A, Prelims 3

Abingdon junior Annsley “AJ” Trivette talks about winning the Class 3 discus state title with a school record throw of 131-9, which broke the previous mark by over four feet that had stood since 1985.






Western Albemarle senior Raina Fitzwater talks about winning the Class 3 pole vault state title in a meet record clearance of 13 feet.
