Coverage
In the fifteenth installment of this major meet there are many things to watch and storylines to see but too many to list. Here are fifteen things you must watch under the lights at SportsBackers in Richmond this Friday night.
Arguably the most elite and largest meet in the south that is a non-championship meet, The Southern Track Classic, released its performance list featuring some of the best athletes in the entire region.
What seems to be the biggest event at this year's Southern Track Classic is the very fast and exciting boys 800. This field features two of, if not the two, fastest boys in the country, Kenneth Hagen of Blacksburg and indoor national champion Derek Holdsworth of Lafayette.
After another blazing meet that produced some impressive times and marks it is now time to look back and select what the best performance was of the meet.
Arguably the best event on the girls side of this historically great meet is the girls 400 that will be headlined by the Woodbridge duo of Farrah Suber and Jewel Christian.

In its fifteenth year of being run, the Southern Track Classic did not dissapoint. With great afternoon weather it seemed as though it was going to be a perfect evening but the weather did not stay that nice all evening and decided to take a turn for the worse during the 400s. Soon after it began to rain but the speed and talent of the athletes still broke through leading to eight VA #1 times, many of which rank nationally, including many in the later events.
As the state nears championship season the times seem to be getting faster and faster including over ten VA #1 times. Here is your complete recap of all elite performances, results, and coverage from this past week.
This week MileStat was running seemingly as much as the entire state was with a huge slate of quality meets in all corners of the Commonwealth. This weekend, in a two day stretch, MileStat filmed over 150 videos of thousands of athletes racing, jumping, throwing, and vaulting. These include many interviews with some of the elite athletes our state has who competed and won at the Southern Track Classic.
This past week history started happening again, this time it was Caroline Alcorta's turn to join an elite group of athletes to rank themselves in the top two all-time in the state of Virginia. She joined Chantel Ray (Hurdles) and Matthew Zajac (Discus) who have already made history this season.
With multiple videographers working this very fast meet, MileStat was able to tape every race and interview almost every winner of the day. Check all these videos out here!
